The University of New Haven Scholarship Programs For International Students
The following are some of the scholarship programs that the University of New Haven offers for international students at the undergraduate level;
1. Presidential Scholarship
The Presidential Scholarship is open to international undergraduate students of the University of New Haven. To be eligible for this scholarship award, students must possess excellent and exceptional academic performance in high school.
The monetary value of the scholarship is usually dependent on the academic performance of the student while in high school (the better your academic performance, the higher the scholarship grant). The presidential scholarship at the University of New Haven is usually about $21,000 to $26,000 per academic year.
Recipients of the Presidential Scholarship are assured of funding for their initial year and have the opportunity to renew it annually, students must however, maintain full-time undergraduate status and make satisfactory progress towards obtaining a bachelor’s degree. The scholarship may be renewed for a maximum of ten semesters and is exclusively allocated towards tuition fees
2. Distinguished Scholar Awards
If you had a very good and exceptional academic record in Highschool but did not meet the other requirements for the Presidential Scholarship award, you are eligible for the Distinguished Scholar Awards.
The Distinguished Scholar Awards is very similar to the Presidential Scholarship, the only notable difference between the two are their worth. The Distinguished Scholar Awards ranges from $15,000 – $20,000.
Just like the Presidential Scholarship award, the Distinguished Scholar Awards covers only tuition fees and is renewable for up to 10 semesters. Recipients are also assured of funding after their initial year and can always renew it annually until graduation as long as they maintain very good academic performance.
3. Charger Award
If you have an impressive academic record and fail to qualify for either the presidential scholarship and the distinguished scholar award, you can apply for the Charger Award.
The Charger award offers scholarships worth $10,000 to $14,000 to international students at the University of New Haven. Just like the afro mentioned international students awards, the charger award covers only tuition fees of students and is renewed every year until after 8 semesters.
To be able to renew the charger award after the initial year, you would have to maintain a good academic performance to meet up with the required CGPA and also remain a full time undergraduate student of the University.
The Presidential Scholarship Award, Distinguished Scholar Award and the charger award are all only available to first time students, that is, year one students who just gained admission into the university.
4. Transfer Scholar Award
This scholarship is usually awarded to international students who transferred from another university or college to the University of New Haven. It is valued between $12,000 to $24,000 and covers only tuition fees.
To be eligible to receive the transfer scholar award, you must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at your transferring institution and have a GPA of 3.0. The amount of grant that you will receive depends on your academic performance (the higher your GPA, the higher the grant).
Just like the other awards for international students, the University of New Haven’s Transfer Scholars Awards is renewable every academic year as long as you maintain a good academic performance.
5. Honors Scholarship
This scholarship is open to all students and worth a $1000 grant. Unlike the rest scholarship programs, application for the Honors Scholarship at the University of New Haven is strictly by invitation.
The scholarship program will require invited students to carry out additional documents. Students will be notified once they are accepted. The Honors Scholarship grant will be added to previously received scholarship grants, so it does not matter if you have previously received a scholarship from the school.
Recipients of the Honors scholarship can renew it the following year if they are able to maintain the University’s Honors Program.
The University of New Haven Scholarships Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for any of the academic scholarships at the University of New Haven, simply complete the application for full-time undergraduate admission. Upon acceptance, you will automatically be evaluated for an academic scholarship.
- The determination of awards will rely on your academic qualifications as assessed during the admission processes. To qualify for a scholarship by the University, you need to have an impressive and exceptional academic record.
- For consideration for an academic scholarship, applicants must have submitted a fully completed admission application by May 1 for the fall semester or January 1 for the spring semester.

The University of New Haven Scholarship Application Process
